katy + robby // married | wellspring spa at mt rainier

Wellspring Spa is utterly breathtaking. Beautiful trails with unique little cabins - I definitely want to come back here to vacation (or to shoot)! There are so many wonderful places to explore and that makes it this photographer's dream. The space suited Katy & Robby so well, it was a perfect place for them to be married.

Since Katy and Robby live in Seattle, I met them for the first time at their engagement session (check it out here). They are so warm and easygoing, I knew their wedding was going to be a lot of fun. I was also able to spend some time talking to family and friends at the rehearsal dinner the night before, and it was so nice to get to know the people in their lives. Everyone made me feel inexpressibly welcome and valued!

Many of the guests spent the weekend at the spa, and pitched in to set up the lovely details. Vintage handkerchiefs and childhood photos lined the path to the peaceful sanctuary where Katy and Robby said their heartfelt vows. The ceremony was officiated by a good friend of the couple - and it was one of the most moving ceremonies I have ever documented. The handkerchiefs were definitely put to good use. More dear friends created the delicious wedding feast and cakes. The reception reminded me of an intimate dinner gathering - everyone talking and eating and laughing together. There was wine, there was dancing! I left feeling so grateful to have been a part of the weekend. The photos will say it better than I can in words.

amber + jason // married | springhouse cellar winery {hood river wedding photography}

Amber & Jason are just the bees knees. it's been a pleasure getting to know them, from their awesome Pearl district engagement session (check it out here) to their amazingly fun wedding day.

This wedding was beautifully detailed and meaningful, and their reception was quite the party - even the band commented on the exuberant dancing and palpable spirit of everyone there. and the band! Bon Ton Roulet is awesome. there really is nothing like live music at a wedding, and this zydeco band does not disappoint.

Amber & Jason are surrounded by so much love - this is the kind of wedding that reminds me why i love what i do. this post will be a long one, just too many images i love! enjoy!

who doesn't like to read books on blankets and blow bubbles? it was a perfect evening with Avery, Treveé, and their adorable and spunky daughter Bristol. Treveé is a super talented photographer as well (check her out here), and i had a great time with this sweet family.

sylvie | st johns {portland family photography}

i spent a lovely morning with this little family earlier this year. as soon as i walked up to the door and saw the quote from beatrix potter i knew i was going to like them.

sylvie was 3 1/2 at the time and if you've ever been around a kid that age you know how full of wonder and spunk they are, it's a magical time in childhood. she very graciously served her mama and I at a tea party, listened to a sweet story, wrestled with her papa, and led us on an exploration of the garden, the nearby field and a favorite tree.

they were getting ready to move away, so it was a privilege to be able to document a tiny snippet of their lives at sylvie's first home. i'm always up for a session like this - i play the observer, and we just let everyone be themselves and see where the day takes us. now that i'm a parent i believe in this more than ever - these "day-in-the-life" moments are the ones you want to hold onto.
